about this home's

516 Throckmorton is one of a handful of properties in Mill Valley that is truly an estate residence. The large street-to-street lot from Throckmorton to Lovell, provides privacy and grandeur with lovely views of Mount Tam, as well as being walking distance to downtown. This corridor of Throckmorton is arguably the most desirable neighborhood in Mill Valley with some of the most luxurious homes in Marin. The Middle Ridge/Cascade Canyon locale is known for it’s sunny, warm weather, tremendous views of the valley and beautiful natural surroundings. The gated, private cobblestone driveway leads you to a recently transformed Spanish Colonial style home that has been reimagined with a Santa Barbara Chic style. The grand living room is infused with natural light from the many windows and there is a fireplace and direct access to a patio that is drenched in sun looking out to the sculpted landscaping and bountiful greenery. The gourmet chef’s kitchen is the hub of the house with new Carrera marble countertops, high end appliances, Sub Zero refrigerator,  breakfast nook, formal dining area and kids study zone. This main floor also has a cozy family room for entertaining and relaxing.

The master bedroom has a glamorous ensuite bathroom with soaking tub, large shower and double vanity and large walk-in closet. Downstairs are three, large, light filled bedrooms and two remodeled bathrooms, laundry room and additional storage. There is also an au-pairs unit with separate entrance, kitchenette and full bathroom. The property is a compound providing a versatile living experience with a newly constructed modern modular ADU with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom and large open living space, kitchen and epic views of Mt. Tam. This is the ideal space for long term guests, supplemental income from short term rentals, or a home office as it has its own independent access from Lovell. There is also a separate exercise studio, a large soccer court with synthetic lawn, multiple decks and patios for family and friends to enjoy the Marin lifestyle in a private parklike setting. With 8kw of solar and 10kwh of storage both the main house and guest house are truly off grid and are able to operate seamlessly when PG&E shuts the power off. This is a rare opportunity to own one of Mill Valley’s premiere properties and enjoy a legacy of elegance with every modern amenity and comfort you can imagine.

Family-friendly Mill Valley is all about schools and sports. Nestled at the foot of Mount Tamalpais, homes in the Marin County city range from 500-square-foot hunter's cabins to multimillion-dollar mansions tucked away on winding, narrow lanes under the redwoods. Coffee is king in Mill Valley. Downtown, three separate coffee shops do a brisk business. At the Depot, as the sunny town center is called, moms with strollers, kids on tricycles, and teenagers kicking hacky sacks relax in the open-air plaza, which now houses an independent bookstore and cafe. The Depot is also a jumping-off spot for hikers and mountain bikers heading up the slopes of Mount Tamalpais. Nightlife in Mill Valley is anchored by Sweetwater Music Hall, which hosts many well-known musical acts. As the groomed playing fields at the community center attest, sports are big in Mill Valley, with soccer, baseball, and lacrosse leagues all popular.
